DELANO, MN - DECEMBER 10, 2018 - The Tiger wrestlers continued their impressive start to the 2017-18 season - by winning the team title in their home Delano Invitational for the third consecutive year - finishing the tournament with 227 team points. Watertown-Mayer/Mayer Lutheran placed second, Blaine third, and Rogers was fourth. Complete team scores can be found below.  

Delano had four individual champions to lead the way. Leo Vanderlinde won the 120 lb. bracket, with a 6-2 decision in the finals. Tanner Kroells won the 138 lb. bracket with a decision of 7-0 in his finals match. Camden Tschudi won the 160 lb. bracket with a pin in 3:10 in the finals. Eli McCune won the 170 lb. bracket with a decision of 8-0 in the championship match.

As they did a week before at the Fridley Invitational, Delano received lots of team points all throughout their lineup. Clete Scherer placed 2nd in the 113 lb. bracket. The Tigers had four 3rd-place finishers. Ethan Quast at 152, Edward Hajas at 195, Matt Baker at 220 and Spencer Poll at HWT all placed 3rd in their brackets. Tyson Kroells at 106 and Jacob McDonald at 182 placed 4th. Reier Sjomeling placed 5th at 126 lbs. Dylan McIntrie did not place at 132.

The Tigers host the Orono Spartans in a WCC East dual this Thursday, December 14. JV matches will begin at 6 PM, with the varsity dual to follow. The dual will be in the HS Gymnasium at Delano High School. On Saturday, the Tigers travel to Dassel-Cokato.
