ANNANDALE, MN - DECEMBER 9, 2016 - The Tigers traveled to Annandale High School for a triangular against two Section 6AA opponents - the host Annandale/Maple Lake Lightning as well as the St. Cloud Apollo Eagles. Delano opened up with a loss to ANML, 45-28. They rebounded with a 65-12 win over St. Cloud Apollo.
In the first dual of the night against Annandale/Maple Lake (ANML) the Tigers were able to build an early lead, getting a pin from Reier Sjomeling at 113, a major decision from Carson Tschudi at 120, a pin from Tanner Kroells at 132, and a pin from Tucker Sjomeling at 145. Delano held a 22-15 lead after 145. But ANML would go on to win the next six matches, clinching the dual, before Walker Russek won by pin in the final match of the dual.
Delano had no time to sulk and needed to come right back out against St. Cloud Apollo. The Tigers got off to a hot start and took advantage of a depleted Apollo lineup. Delano won eight of the first nine matches. They got pins from Reier Sjomeling and Carson Tschudi, and a technical fall from Tanner Kroells. They also got forfeit wins from Tyson Kroells, Tucker Sjomeling, Hayden Lynch, Camden Tschudi, and Eli McCune. This left the score at 47-6 through the 160 lb. weight class. After Apollo picked up a pair of wins at 170 and 182, Edward Hajas and Steven Hajas came back with pins before Russek won by forfeit to end the match.
