FRIDLEY, MN - DECEMBER 3, 2016 - Delano senior wrestler, Tucker Sjomeling, became the winningest wrestler in Delano history on Saturday.

The milestone win would come in his second match of the day - wrestling in the semifinals of the 138 lb. bracket, in the Don Meyers Fridley Invitational, which was also the first event of the 2016-17 season. Sjomeling wasted little time, pinning his opponent, James Young of Robbinsdale Armstrong, in just 48 seconds. 

The win moved him past previous record-holder and Delano alum, Eric Tschudi, who held the record since 1998. Tschudi finished his impressive career with a 166-38 record. 

The win put Sjomeling on a career record of 167-15. But his day was not finished yet, as he went on to win his championship match over Nate Johnson of Hopkins by a 15-5 major decision. At the end of the day, Sjomeling would sit with a career record of 168-15. 

To cap off an already special day, Sjomeling was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler Award - an award given out as a result of votes from the coaches of all participating teams. 

Sjomeling is a two-time state champ, and a four-time state entrant. He has committed to attending and wrestling for the Nebraska Cornhuskers in 2017.
